I teach a records management class. We teach the students to index according to the established ARMA rules. I have come across a situation which I am unsure of.

If we have Father John, we would index this as FATHER JOHN.
If we have Father John Smith, we would index this as SMITH JOHN FATHER.
but what if we have Father John Jr? Would it be indexed as FATHER JOHN JR as titles are always the last indexing unit? Or would the assumption be that the JR is now a last name and it is to be indexed as JR JOHN FATHER?

Is there a rule which someone can point me to? Its a tricky tricky question I have been asked of one student and I would like to be able to give them the answer with corresponding reference.

Thanks
