Thank you to Speakers for offering to share your knowledge. Demonstrate your capabilities to innovate, connect, and lead information management projects and professionals. Strengthen the Canadian IM Community. Disrupt the status quo. Share your capacity for change, to allow others to do the same.

Conference Themes

The theme for InfoCON CAN 2020 is Arise, Connect, Innovate. Conference sessions will focus on the following topics:

Information Management and Governance (best practices, email, getting started with RIM/IG, how to keep RIM program relevant, etc.)

Privacy and Legal (acccess and privacy, legal regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, etc.)

Technology (Cyber security, digital transformation, information security, data management, data analytics, big data, cloud computing, ECM, data management, digital disruption, data security, data protection, AI, block chain, auto-classification, etc.)

Special Topics (Soft Skills, Change Management, Project Implementation, Business Case Studies, etc.)

Solutions Showcase (Vendor Presentations)

Professional Development (CRA/CRM, IGP, etc.)


InfoCON CAN provides an opportunity for Information Management professionals to expand their knowledge, meet with presenters and exhibitors, and establish a peer network. You will find helpful information here to assist speakers in successfully submitting successful Conference session proposals.

Speaker Selection Process

Each completed application will be evaluated by the Conference Program Committee based upon the following criteria: Quality of Content: Relevant and timely topic that is appropriate and applicable to the pre-defined tracks and delivery formats. Presenter Qualifications: Professional experience and expertise as evidenced by current position and contributions to the industry. The application form itself: Must be completed in full according to the application instructions. One form per submission topic. Appropriate number of speakers: Case studies and lectures are limited to two speakers. Workshops are limited to three speakers. Panels are limited to three speakers plus one moderator. Rapid fire sessions are limited to one speaker.

Conference Proceedings

Conference Proceedings: InfoCon CAN strives to reduce its environmental footprint and as such, we do not provide printed handouts or other materials to delegates or speakers. All presentations will be made available electronically for delegates and speakers. Presenters must: Submit presentations in native file format (MS PowerPoint slides, MS Word handouts, etc.) and .pdf Format to the ARMA Canada Program Director () by the stated deadline; and ensure they have copies of their presentations available onsite, either on USB or via Internet access;. Proceedings will be published on the ARMA Canada Region website and/or in the ARMA Canada Region Conference app.

Conference Housekeeping (AV, setup)

The standard audio-visual (AV) set-up may include a podium microphone, a lapel microphone, a screen and a data projector. Please note, laptop computers will be provided. However, to ensure compatibility issues are addressed, the Program Committee must receive all presentations by the submission deadlines. Presenters must indicate any non-standard AV requirements in advance and ARMA Canada will try to accommodate the requests. Note: Presenters planning to use an Apple computer are strongly encouraged to bring relevant adaptors to the Conference as the AV provider’s cables may not fit all Apple models.

Tips for Completing the Application

Delivery Format: Each presentation will take the form of one of the following instructional delivery formats. Case study: A case study works well for situation-specific issues and problems. It provides an account of an actual problem or situation an individual or group has experienced. Duration: 1 hour. Lecture: A lecture is a planned talk on a relevant topic. Duration: 1 hour. Panel: Panels work well for policy issues, discussions and debates. Duration: 1 hour. Workshop: A workshop typically has 2 components: a) a technical component which presents theory and b) a practical component of interactive learning involving participants in activities such as small group discussions, problem-solving and other exercises. Workshops are 2 hours (2 consecutive 1 hour sessions with a break in between). A limited number of workshops will be offered at the Conference. Rapid Fire session: Rapid Fire sessions are an enforced maximum of 10 minutes in length with a maximum of 15 slides per presentation. Each Rapid Fire session will have a facilitator and consist of three individual presentations with a two-minute break in between for evaluations and question time following the final presentation. Non-Commercial Presentations – A Reminder: Presentations must be non-commercial and vendor-neutral. Speakers must not promote a product/service or monetary self-interest in his/her presentation.

Speaker Registration

The ARMA Canada Program team will register all speakers with the exception of Rapid Fire session presenters*. Please be sure that you answer the additional registration questions to ensure your registration requirements are met (dietary concerns, contact sharing, etc). *Rapid Fire presenters will have a 75 percent balance owing on registration if they are not also selected to present a different format session.

Terms and Conditions

By returning this application to you agree to deliver the presentation as above and you also agree to abide by the current Conference submission deadlines, and the terms and conditions set forth herein: ARMA Canada will: provide a non-transferable, full Conference registration package at current value for up to two (2) speakers per presentation; provide a 25% registration discount ($250 value) for individual rapid fire presentations; provide the following audio visual equipment for your presentation: 1-computer with PowerPoint software; 1-screen appropriate for room size; 1-data projector; 1-microphone per presenter (panel presentations with 3 or more presenters will be set up with table microphones); 1-podium/lectern, head table, and seating; You will: agree not to sell products, services or advertise or promote specific equipment, services, or systems; create a presentation and materials that contain only your own work or the work that others have authorized you to use; agree not to use subject matter which is libelous or which infringes any proprietary, personal, or intellectual property rights of any person, including, but not limited to, any rights of privacy and any copyright or trade secret rights. You further agree to defend, indemnify, and hold ARMA Canada harmless against all claims, suits, costs, damages, and expenses (including costs of suit and legal fees) that ARMA Canada may sustain if any of the foregoing representations or warranties is incorrect; be available to present on any of the Conference dates and times as scheduled by the Program Committee; travel to the Conference at your own expense. ARMA Canada does not reimburse for travel, lodging, or other expenses incurred while traveling to or attending the Conference. ARMA Canada may terminate this agreement if: you do not meet the deadlines and other requirements established by ARMA Canada in the Conference Program, including: submission of presentation materials; the use of presentation materials without obtaining all necessary permissions; you do not deliver your presentation for any reason; the Conference is cancelled for any unlikely reason.
